Top Things To Do in LONDON | Billingsgate Fish Market

If you're stuck for ideas for things to do in London this holiday season, why not visit Billingsgate Fish Market? It's one of my favourite markets in London. If you love market shopping, then this fish market is for you!

My friend and I woke up at 4am to visit this spectacular place! As the surrounding city of London lays silent, the market comes alive at 4am in the morning. It’s definitely a hidden gem, because tourists and Londoners really don’t have the energy to wake up at 3 in the morning to visit. It was a surreal experience because canary wharf is known to be the financial centre of the London, so to see fish being sold in this industrial environment - an environment juxtaposed against the glass panels of the skyscrapers above, was really mesmerising. There are about 40 merchants here, selling daily arrivals from coastal areas. It can get quite cold in the early hours of the morning, so wear something warm and cost, but the market does really smell so prepare for that too. And oh, maybe don’t wear your best clothes as the smell may stick to your clothes too!

Watch what we got up to here:

The easiest way to get to the market is by taking the DLR to Blackwall station, or the jubilee line to Canary Wharf station.

Much love,

Anpu
